Pallets

The 1:4 scale shipping pallet is a core object for Processing Collapse. The wood for this limited edition series comes from a single dead ash tree in Accord, NY.

It is a specimen of unfolding local extinction, showcasing traces of the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) infestation that is decimating the North American ash. EAB is thought to have been introduced to this continent through untreated wood shipping materials.

Pallets are often constructed from “inferior” wood and cycled into global trade. This pallet, made of a depleted but now precious wood, reimagines circulation in a localized, afflicted region.

When a public library decides to partner with us on a project, we offer them a pallet. These initial artworks become public-facing introductions to the ash collapse and to our work.

Our pallets have appeared in shows at Gallery (Chatham, NY) and Woodstock Artists Association & Museum (Woodstock, NY)

We are also selling pallets as collector’s items to raise funds in support of our work with libraries.
